New Menu Items At The Melt
Say Cheese! You know it makes you smile! The Melt is all about cheese, from gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches to specialty mac and cheese. This week I was invited to go to The Melt at the Irvine Spectrum.I took a few mini critics with me (aka my kids).
I chose the Spicy Mission burger. This burger has pepper jack cheese, jalapeños, fresh avocado, romaine lettuce, picked onion and spicy ketchup. The flavors nicely complemented each other as the spiciness of the jalapeños and pepper jack were quieted by the creaminess of the avocado and cut with the tartness of the pickled onion. All of this was accompanied with a quarter pound of their 100% Wagyu & Angus beef. Definitely a burger to try!
You can’t have a lonely burger, so along side, I was naughty and ordered the Cheese ’n Bacon fries. These are the “Naked” fries that they dress with creamy aged cheddar, fontina, and provolone, with bacon and crispy onion. I will say they are a bit on the salty side, but also very very addicting, so grab some water and dig in because you really can’t go wrong with cheese and bacon on fries!
The Melt has also added a few new items to their menu like:
- Egg-in-a-Hole – a classic aged sharp and mild cheddar grilled cheese on artisan French bread, with a fried egg in the middle
- Chicken Caesar Grilled Cheese – a classic salad featuring fontina, grilled chicken, fresh spinach, and caesar dressing
- Chocolate Crunch Sundae – vanilla soft serve, chocolate sauce, chocolate crunch, and whipped cream
Among those new items is also the Candied Bacon sundae which I had to order. Are you sensing a bacon theme? There is absolutely nothing wrong with that! Vanilla soft serve is topped with caramel, candied bacon and whipped cream. It is kind of a perfect ending because you get that sweetness of the ice cream and as that melts away, you are chewing on a small piece of salty bacon. It gives you that perfect salty sweet cycle that we all love!
My minis chowed on kids menu options like the Mac ’n Cheese and the kids Cheeseburger (without cheese…some people aren’t cheese people, which leaves more for the rest of us!) They love the “Boylan” sodas that are on tap and the Salted Caramel shake as well as the Maple Bacon shake, which is like frozen breakfast in a cup! They all left feeling pretty full and satisfied thanks to The Melt!
