Is it just me, or is there no such thing as too much ice cream?  Oh good, it’s not just me!  I was so excited to be a part of the opening of Creamistry in Costa Mesa. Creamistry is an ice cream parlor that makes premium custom flavors and uses liquid nitrogen to fast freeze it for every customer.

Creamistry gives you the option to choose from four different bases including premium, organic, sorbet and coconut (a vegan option). From there you can choose one of their many flavors.  They have the staple flavors such as chocolate and vanilla, but they also have many new and inventive flavors such as Anko, Churro, Cookie Butter, Fruity Pebbles, Thai Tea, Honeydew, Lychee, Hazelnut and Reese’s Peanut Butter.

Next is the toppings, which are far too many to list, but include candies, nuts, cookies and cakes, fruit and syrups.  The combinations are only limited to your imagination!

My husband opted for Cookies ‘n Cream.  It’s wasn’t your typical Cookies ‘n Cream though because of the fast freeze process, the cookies stayed crisp and crunchy.  It was a sweet surprise!

Luckily, for people like me who freeze up in the face of too many options, there are Creamistry Creations.  These are indulgent combinations thought up by the Creamistry employees.  I chose the Captains Breakfast which is Captain Crunch ice cream, fresh bananas, strawberries and Nutella drizzle.

Creamistry fast freezes with liquid nitrogen which creates a very dense, creamy ice cream.  As they make it, you see puffs of frozen steam fly up in the air!  After just a couple of minutes, my creamy creation was in my hands and it was almost too pretty to eat….almost!  The Captains Breakfast was an ingenious creation.  The sweet creamy ice cream with the familiar flavor of Captain Crunch, fresh fruit and rich Nutella was ice cream heaven!

Creamistry has two locations in Orange County and plans on opening several more soon.  Time to go back.  One flavor down, just about a million to go!
