Breakfast Republic

Pancake Flight featuring Oreo Cookie Pancakes

Perched conveniently across from a trolley station with plenty of parking and a friendly staff is “Breakfast Republic” – One of San Diego’s top spot to enjoy the most important meal of the day. Open from 7am to 3pm daily, Breakfast Republic serves a tasty takes on American classics such as Oreo Pancakes, Shrimp & Grits and S’mores French Toast. Anyone looking for a fun and unpretentious place to begin the day will love any of the many  locations in Southern California.

Food and Drink Menu

For those looking to enjoy a morning cocktail Breakfast Republic offers craft beer and organic kombucha on draft, which are available as samplers to complement many of the unique dishes they serve. On a recent visit to the Mission Valley location I tried their Jurassic bloody Mary with candied bacon and a tajin rim.  It was stuffed with pickles, celery, olives and best of all came with a stainless steel straw!! Honestly this drink was a meal in itself. All of their drinks come in witty glasses and cups.

Now, onto breakfast! I decided to try the chilaquiles because I am a tortilla chip lover. It came topped with 3 eggs, red salsa, queso fresca, sour cream, black beans and mexican rice. It even had 3 perfectly ripe slices of avocado nestled in between. I would avsolutely order this again.

My husband had the Gluten-Free French Toast served with bananas, whipped cream. He really enjoyed it which is great because sometimes gluten-free items are hit or miss. This was definitely a hit!!

My daughter and son both enjoyed a pancake flight of 3 and each of them devoured everything on their plates. They tried strawberry cheesecake, cinnamon roll and pineapple upside down cake. The pancakes were big and fluffy and flavorful.

Indoor/Outdoor Decor

Breakfast Republic has some really fun décor/design pieces. There is a lounge area with egg chairs and tables, and cheeky sayings written across booth tables, such as “Brunch: The socially acceptable excuse for day drinking.” The liberty station location has an awesome outside patio with a view of the trolley arriving and departing. This is super fun for people watching. Of course the weather is San Diego is always great but indoor dining works great too!

Tips

  • Reservations are not allowed. Under a picture of Christopher Walken it’s posted: “Walkens Only” LOL. However, the Liberty Station location will text you when your table is ready so you can walk around there while you’re waiting.
  • Breakfast Republic carres almond and coconut milks for guests who prefer non-dairy alternatives.
  • They allow well behaved four-legged friends on their outside patio.
