Dude, Where’s My Curry?

If you like Indian food we have found a great place for you to enjoy some curry. “Dude, Where’s my curry?” is a blend between a British curry shop and traditional Indian cuisine. It is located in a group of shops and restaurants that’s easy to find, with sufficient parking. There are several businesses in the area, so the lunch crowds may generate some lines at peak times.

The restaurant’s name asks the guest to ponder their motives for trying Indian dishes which seem to be daring and addictive. I’m a fan of Indian curry dishes, but have limited experience and cannot easily say whether I’ve tried one style of Indian food vs. another. The founders of this restaurant enjoys challenging newcomers and repeat customers to identify what they like most, and they even encourage guests to sample the many full flavors offered. With this approach, it’s a little bit like an ice cream shop meets an Indian restaurant. If you aren’t sure if you will enjoy a dish, then taste it!

The spiciness of curry dishes can vary widely, and they offer clear guidelines – with the taste-first option always available as a backup plan.

Some of my favorites included the Chicken Malai (tender and mild, and oh-so-rich), Chicken Bhuna (spicy, balanced, and very flavorful), and Chicken Tikka Masala (smooth texture and delicious sauce). I also had the Rogan Josh, which was a heavier tasting lamb dish. It was good to balance this with the rice and lighter chicken malai.

Meals are served with a “smile” every time, and the staff and owner (Rohit) genuinely enjoy creating excellent food for their regular customers and newcomers.

Vegetarian dishes (lentils, potatoes, garbanzo beans, cauliflower) were available too, and I enjoyed the flavors of the dishes that I tried. I generally prefer higher-protein Indian dishes but would definitely return for more options on my next visit.

Indian food is often known for its naan bread, which is baked in a special tandoor oven. This allows the bread to be cooked quickly which maintains a fluffy texture with some crispiness as well. It’s the best match designed for the creamy sauces, along with the rice. I chose the garlic naan and fragrant pilau (Basmati) rice, since I always want to sample more and more flavors.

Dessert

These extra options added a nice touch for sweetness to round out the meal:

Three exciting refreshing flavors of ice cream: Mango & Rose Water, Pistachio & Cardamom.

Mango Lassi – a sweet yoghurt mango drink “with a hint of rose water

Besides the opportunity for quality food that is offered with quick counter service, the staff was excellent. Many repeat customers entered with a look of a craving, and new guests were greeted warmly with a generous portion of support and love for the food they’ve prepared.

Speaking of generous portions, I’m convinced that few people will leave hungry. Feel free to eat in the restaurant; there is ample seating and it’s very clean, with bright colors – even on the TV screen the night I visited. I’m looking forward to my next trip to try a new selection.
