Holstein’s Shakes and Buns

null

There a new burger joint in town but it’s not what your thinking. Holstein’s is not your typical run of the mill hamburger place. It’s a combination of casual/chic meets gastropub-meets gourmet burgers and shakes. I absolutely loved it!!! This Holstein’s shakes and Buns location brings a little more elegance than the Las Vegas location, as it is situated in South Cost Plaza and has a different clientele. However, they carry over 600 craft beers! Their selection of beer and wine is pretty impressive and something you won’t see anywhere else in Socal.

I always love bringing along my best gal pal Erin because not only do we have so much fun together, we both love to eat and get excited about the menus. We both started off with a Bam-boolzed Shake which is basically an alcoholoic shake. I had the “Frozen Grasshopper” which is Peppermint, Chocolate, Crème De Menthe, Pinnacle Chocolate Vodka and Erin had the “Nutella Crunch Shake” which had  Nutella, Frangelico, Caramelized Hazelnut Pieces. It was the perfect way to start off our meal. Be careful though, those things can creep up on you.

Next up were our appetizers. I had the lobster mac and cheese and Erin had the buffalo chicken dip. All I can say is that the lobster mac and cheese was like eating christmas in a dish. It was so outrageously delicious and I even saved some to bring home for lunch the next day. The buffalo chicken dip was also very good and goes great with tortilla strips or carrot and celery sticks.

Entrees

Spring _ Summer 15 Look Book-3

We waited to place our order AFTER we finished our appetizers because we didnt want our food to come too soon. I ordered the Gold Standard-Dry Aged Beef Sirloin Burger With Smoked Bacon, Aged Goat Cheddar Cheese, Tomato Confit, Baby Arugula & Garlic-Chive Aioli and Erin ordered the “Nom Nom ” Burger- Kobe Beef, Cheddar Cheese, Potato Chips, 1000 Island Dressing.

The Nom Nom burger was actually created by a young girl who won a contest and customers loved it so much it stuck on the menu!

Our burgers were cooked medium liked we asked and out fries and onion rings were hot and crispy.

Dessert

This was probably the best part of a our meal. The manager came by with a bowl full of merengue cookies that are cooked in Liquid Nitrogen. We each took one and  tossed it around in our hands for a bit. Then we popped them in our mouths and that is when the magic happened. The smoke comes out of your mouth and nose and you can’t help but laugh because it’s such a funny effect. The cookies actually taste really good and super fresh!
