New Frites Menu

Mimi’s Cafe has rolled out an all new Frites Menu and EatDrinkOC was delighted to try it last week. In case you are wondering what “Frites” means, it is French for Meat and Potatoes.

The new menu includes 5 mouth-watering entrees.

  1. Steak Frites-New york strip steak with thyme-butter garlic frites.
  2. Grilled Salmon and Frites – Grilled Atlantic Salmon with lemon-garlic butter and garlic spinach
  3. Grilled Chicken and frites – Roasted Half Chicken with rosemary herbes de Provence butter
  4. Meyer Lemon Mussels and Frites – Meyer Lemon mussels in a white wine-lemon broth with herbs and garlic crostini
  5. Roasted chicken and frites – Slow roasted half chicken, house-made rosemary herbes de provence butter and frites.

One of my all time favorite things about Mimi’s is their endless bread basket. The carrot raisin bread is so good that I swear it could solve world peace.

I decided to try the roasted chicken and frites. I love french fries and was excited to try our their new recipe. The chicken was so tender and moist and the meat literally fell of the bone. It had a unique flavor to it and the skin was so good! The french fries were also delicious however, I prefer my fries a bit more crispy. I love the seasoning on the fries as well. I thought this entrée was plated very nice and the rosemary sprig was an added bonus.

My 12 year old son ordered the grilled Salmon and frites. He eats gluten-free and absolutely loved this entrée. The salmon was flaky and tender and he devoured the french fries. He actually wanted to order more but I  gave him some of mine.

The next entrée is not on the frites menu but it is still worthy of talking about. The Cobb Salad. This monstrosity had so much going on and was packed with protein. You actually had to  use your fork and move around some of the toppings to find the lettuce.

House-roasted turkey, avocado, fresh tomatoes, green onions, crumbled bleu cheese, hickory-smoked bacon and chopped egg give this salad super high marks! It comes with a petite French baguette or fresh-baked muffin which we brought home and ate for breakfast the next day.

Mimi’s new frites are made from russett potatoes grown on a collective of four family farms  in southeastern Idaho that has been growing potatoes since the early 1900’s.
