Outrageous Views At Orange Hill Brunch

image

Perched high atop a hill in Orange with jaw dropping views and a classy ambiance awaits a beautiful restaurant called Orange Hill. There is so much charm and romance to this restaurant. To get to Orange hill you have to drive up a fun and scenic hill. The views seem to stretch forever. Parking is strictly valet but they are fast and efficient.

The entrance to the restaurant is stunning. There is a Koi Pond with giant Koi and a waterfall that cascades down along with lots of lush landscape.  And then there is the blazing fireplace.  It felt very Zen and really set the tone for my experience.

We were greeted by a friendly hostess and taken to our window table. Then we were give a short tour of the buffet and quickly offered some mimosas. The first thing that caught my eye at the buffet was the sushi. I love sushi and jumped at the chance to get some. They sashimi (seared ahi and salmon) and rolls and even had chopsticks to eat them with. Both were delicious. If you like potstickers they also had a steamer full of them.

Since I was already eating fish I decided to stick with it and tried the endless crab legs and shrimp. What I loved most about this station was that they had warm drawn butter. A lot of brunch places I have gone to don’t offer this and only offer cocktail sauce so this was quite a delight for me.. They also had ceviche, smoked salmon and a plentiful array of condiments such as capers, onions, peppers, and  lemons, as well as bagels and cream cheese and a toaster. Another nice touch they had was they served small plate salads instead of a salad bar. They had  a house salad with berries and walnuts, a ceasar salad and some seafood and pasta salads.

After all that seafood I decided I would try one of the made to order pasta dishes they offered. You don’t even have to leave the table for it. You place the order with your waiter and they bring it to your table. This gave me a little time to digest my food while waiting for the next course. I chose a Pesto garlic chicken pasta and my date chose the vegetarian Omlette with goat cheese. Keep in mind that they still serve scrambled eggs,  fruit, eggs benedict, bacon, sausage, pastries, cinnamon rolls etc.. but we decide to go this route instead. They also had cereal for the kids as well as a  pizza and corn dog station for the kids too!

This was probably the best part of the brunch and my favorite meal. My pasta was so flavorful and it was nice and hot when I received it. I also liked that it was creamy and heavy. It was  light and bursting with pesto. The Omlette was perfectly cooked and the goat cheese was a nice touch.

After all that we headed back to check out the warming dishes. We had our choice of spare ribs,  chicken fish, vegetables, mashed potatoes, rice pilaf, and more. They also had a prime rib carving station. Be sure to clarify exactly how you want your meat sliced. I mentioned to the lady I would like a very thin piece and she handed me a super thick slab. Rather than ask her to redo it I ate it anyway. It was juicy and tender and it went great with the mashed potatoes.

We started slowing down after all of that food so we decided to take a walk  outside before hitting the desert table. Although this photo was taken outside this is the same view we had from our table. The sky seemed to go on forever. I could have stood out there all day long.

After getting some fresh air we headed over to the chocolate fountain for some dessert. They had rice Krispy treats, and marshmallows for dipping as well as strawberries. They also had baked cookies, chocolate cake, carrot cake, creme Brulee as well as many other delights. While I sat down to eat my goodies my date ventured off to try the banana foster station. Oh wow! A chef melts butter in a pan and then sautees the sliced bananas with Myer Rum. All of that goodness is served with vanilla ice cream and a waffle cone.

Orange Hill has such a romantic setting that it would be the perfect place for a date night. You can sit outside by the fire pit and enjoy the city lights. There is a large patio with covered seating and I am told if you come here n the 4th of July you can see many firework shows at once.

There is also several banquet rooms for large parties as well as a lounge with a bar and a really funky orange theme. I loved the orange piano, the orange chandelier and orange pillows. It definitely shouted Orange County. I had a wonderful brunch and I am looking forward to trying their regular menu next time!
