The restaurant industry has seen some of the most notable changes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Dining rooms were closed and carryout and delivery became the new normal. Due to this restaurants have streamlined their daily operations with new technology like QR codes to eliminate touch points and offering self service kiosks.

Urban Plates, the chef-driven restaurant brand offering made-from-scratch meals using ethically sourced ingredients recently implemented a new service model that bridges the gap between fast casual and full-service restaurants, with Coronavirus safety at the forefront. The new service model works seamlessly with Urban Plates newly launched app, available on IOS and Android devices, giving guests a variety of ways to order, and even skip the line.

This is why I love Urban Plates so much.  They have a variety of choices and I don’t have to choose bewtweena delicious meal or a fast one.  Or between eating well and staying within budget. Plus I don’t even need to leave my seat now to get my food. Below is a video of how the ordering system works through the app. Once you submit your order a server brings it to you.

How it works: Upon arrival at the restaurant for dine-in, guests can sit at a sanitized table of their choice (indoor or outdoor) and use the Urban Plates app to order and pay for their meal. The app is linked to its respective table and tells the Urban Plates’ team where the guest(s) are seated in the restaurant, so they know where to deliver the food when ready. The new service allows guests to order and pay for their meal via the app and remain seated at their table where their food will be delivered by an Urban Plates team member.

While the restaurant will still take orders in-person, Urban Plates encourages guests to use the app, for ordering dine-in, takeout, and delivery. Committed to its “something for everyone” ethos, Urban Plates’ app also allows guests to sort the menu by dietary preference and/or dietary restrictions, allowing guests to easily toggle between common dietary preferences, such as keto or paleo, as well as eliminate menu items with common allergens, such as nuts, gluten, soy, and beyond.

I started off with a nice warm bowl of their tomato basil soup. It is always so rich and creamy and I love the pesto they add to it!

Then I had their chimichurri  grass fed steak with mashed potatoes and gravy. It’s literally my favorite thing on the menu.

My husband enjoyed the grilled sustainable salmon which is always light and flakey! He chose a beet salad and some organic red and white quinoa to round it out.

Did you know that Urban Plates now has a new menu item? Yup, they now offer chicken tenders. Taste the difference a homemade tender can make. It’s not a nugget and hardly a strip, but their new hand tossed buttermilk-battered crispy jumbo tenders are never given antibiotics, never frozen, fed a 100% vegetarian diet and cooked to order. They were phenomenal.

Let’s not forget about their flourless chocolate cake either. It has ganache and fresh berries as well as thin rolled chocolate shavings.
