Pieology Celebrates a donation of $22,750 to CF Foundation
I had the pleasure of being a part of a special event held at Pieology the other day. The pizza place that is a favorite in our family was part of a special fund-raiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
It all started with a boy named Morgan Johnson who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. His best friend Harry didn’t want to just sit by and watch. This kid came up with a plan to help with the research for a cure. Harry created the Mojo pizza at Pieology. Hary’s pizza was inspired by the Hawaiian style pizza because of their shared love of surfing. Pieology generously donated 15% of the sales of the Mojo pizza to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Well, we were all so excited to see that the sales of Mojo pizzas has been a hit! In fact, it has been a $22,750 hit!
Harry, Morgan and their family along with Pieology CEO Carl Chang were all on hand as a representative from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation happily accepted the donation. He went on to explain that research for Cystic Fibrosis doesn’t get funding from the government, so all its donations come from fund-raisers like this. They are able to put 91% of all donations directly toward the research and they are optimistic about making Cystic Fibrosis a condition rather than a life threatening illness. It was touching to be a part of this event. Pieology already was the top of the pile when it came to pizza, but now they have added the warm fuzzy factor by paying it forward. I know my family will be back again and again!
