Last week I had the opportunity to check out some of the delicious new menu items at Citrus Fresh grill in Aliso Viejo. Tucked away in the beautiful grounds of the Rennaisance Club Sport in Aliso Viejo this restaurant offers guests fresh wholesome ingredients with an eclectic flare. Who doesn’t love Fresh and Fashionable food?
I spoke with head Chef Andres Miramontes and he suggested I start with the spicy Tuna Wraps. As a fan of sushi, particularly poke, I was excited to try it. The description alone was enough to make my mouth water.
These delectable delights are considered a share plate and are served in living lettuce cups, with cucumber, carrot slaw, avocado, ponzu sauce, and black and white sesame seeds. This was some of the best Ahi I have ever tasted. I loved the sprouts that were served with it because it gave a light crunch. The crispy rice noodles were also a nice addition. It was fun to eat these and the lettuce cups were easy to roll without the ingredients falling out.
After the lettuce wraps I was still a little hungry so I opted to try the Citrus Steak Salad. I try to eat protein in almost every meal and I can never pass up a good steak. The presentation is really pretty and it smelled amazing.
I chose to have my steak cooked medium and it came out perfect. Not overcooked, and not undercooked. Assembled neatly on front of a bed of Kenter Canyon Organic Greens this medley had a nice amount of toppings. Mango, tomatoes, roasted red pepper, roasted corn, avocado and red onion. The mango was perfectly ripe and tasted really sweet. I really enjoyed the citrus dressing drizzled over the steak because it gave it a kick and made the steak moist and tender. My favorite part of this meal were the homemade onion sticks. I highly recommend this salad!
