Buca Di Beppo and National Meatball Day

Last weekend my friends and I celebrated National Meatball Day (yes it really exists) at a super fun restaurant called Buca Di Beppo. We were invited to come and try our their menu! If you have never been to one of their restaurant before you should definitely put it on your list of places to try. Not only is it good food but the atmosphere is entertaining and the decor is quirky and fun!

Sofia Vergara was the Spokesperson for Buca Di Beppo so there was a life-size poster of her with a bowl of spaghetti and meatballs.. That was a fun photo op!

Dining  In The Kitchen

The fun started off with us dining in the middle of the kitchen! Yup. There is a dining booth smack in the middle of the kitchen where you can watch the chef and the rest of the crew cook. I couldn’t believe how clean everything was. And Organized too. All the dishes were stacked perfectly and the floors and the walls were pristine. We all had fun watching them prep and serve everyone’s meals. Our waitresses name was Tyler and she was awesome! Very cheerful and prompt. The funny thing about the kitchen is they bring the  guests through the kitchen into the regular dining room so everyone sees you.

Buca Trio Platter

We started off with an appetizer that would make everyone happy. (Keep in mind that everything in this restaurant is served family style so the portions are huge) We chose  The Buca Trio Platter. It has fried calamari, fried mozzarella and stuffed mushrooms, served with our homemade marinara sauce. Frankly I am pretty picky when it comes to calamari because it is one of those dishes you can mess up. But theirs was spot on. It had the perfect crunch and there were plenty of little tentacles . Those are my favorite! Yum!

Chicken and Pasta and Salad , Oh My!

Next we sampled the Apple Gorgonzola Salad, the chicken carbonara, and the Shrimp Fra Diavolo. The salad was really tasty and had quite a unique dressing. There were  Granny Smith apples, spiced walnuts, dried cranberries and Gorgonzola tossed with mixed lettuce in their signature Italian vinaigrette.

The Chicken Carbonara had chicken breast, prosciutto, peas and garlic in Alfredo sauce. This dish was very flavorful although a little on the heavy side.

The Shrimp Fra Diavolo was by far my favorite. It had garlic shrimp and crushed red pepper with penne in spicy rosa sauce. It had  just the perfect amount of spice.

Best Chicken On Earth

Growing up I had to eat a LOT of chicken. My mom even had a book called 101 ways to cook chicken. Therefore, I like chicken. And  I will tell you that Buca’s Chicken Limone is by far the best chicken on this earth. The picture speaks for itself. The lemon butter sauce is light and the capers really finish it off. It was tender and tasted great with the pastas. I am getting hungry again just typing this out.

Buca Di Beppos Famous Meatballs

As if that wasn’t enough food, Tyler brought us out a bowl full of 3 giant meatballs. After all, it WAS national meatball day. We had a lot of fun making puns and being silly but the meatballs were seriously amazing. We even had Tyler pose with them because they were so pretty.

Dessert

I’m not gonna lie. We did not eat dessert. The 3 of us were beyond stuffed and were quickly headed into a food coma. However,  we did take some photos of their epic sweets! ON the left we have their cheesecake with rasberry sauce and their chocolate chip cannoli’s. In the middle is their colossal brownie Sundae. Look at the size of that beast.  It had twelve decadent chunks of freshly-baked brownies layered with six scoops of vanilla bean and chocolate ice cream, topped with caramel and chocolate sauces then buried in mounds of whipped cream. Last we have a dessert called mt Vesuvius. It was double dark chocolate cake filled with hot gooey melted chocolate, topped with vanilla ice cream, raspberry sauce and whipped cream. You actually have to order that one early so it will erupt in time for dessert.
