Idyllwild Bake Shop and Brew
Trying new restaurants is a highlight of mine when on vacation. I love small mom and pop shops and that is exactly what you will find in Idyllwild due to it’s small, yet charming hometown feel. On a recent moms getaway, we discovered a quaint little dining spot called Idyllwild Bake shop and brew. They are a veteran owned bake shop nestled in the center of town. They offer made from scratch baked goods, grilled sandwiches, coffee, espresso, tea, custom cakes and cupcakes.
The sandwich selections at Idyllwild Bake and Brew are really fantastic. All sandwiches automatically come served hot, unless you specifically ask them to make it cold. Since I was with a group of friends we opted to try a few different sandwiches for some variety. Pictured above is the Southfork Sandwich. This has chicken, pesto, and avocado. It has a rich, robust and flavorful taste and is large enough to share.
A friend ordered a sammy on fresh sourdough bread that was loaded with spinach, bacon, tomato, turkey and avocado – it was so good. With so many sandwich choices it can be hard to decide so that is why it’s so awesome that you can create your own.
This was my custom sandwich on a hoagie roll with sprouts, avocado, turkey and tomato. It was so huge that I was only able to eat half of it. I’m really glad I chose a roll for this sandwich as it was the perfect pocket to hold everything in place.
Show Me Your Tots
Tater tots are a specialty at Idyllwild Bake and brew. My absolute favorite thing to eat there were the carne tots. Words can’t even perfectly describe this delicacy. They are knock your socks off amazing and I would make a day trip to this place specifically for these. Take crispy tater tot, cover them in cheese, white sauce, shredded meat, diced avocado and bacon bits. Now you have carne tots! Just look at them in all their beauty.
The stank tots were also very good and are topped with garlic, cheese and onions. And no, you do not get stanky leg if you eat them LOL. Both are a solid choice and you cannot go wrong with either one.
Be sure to top off your meal with a delicious dessert or better yet come by for breakfast! They have an awesome breakfast burrito and stellar cinnamon rolls. They also specialize in mini apple pies. They warm them up for you and the whipped cream is not the sweet kind out of a can, it’s homemade whipped cream.
