Tropical Smoothie Cafe Now Open
Lake Forest has a new addition to its city: Tropical Smoothie Cafe! The cafe opened last week with loads of new and healthy options for hungry OC diners. Located conveniently off the 5 freeway at El Toro, it is an easy stop on the go.
Tropical Smoothie Cafe is like a mix of a Jamba Juice and a Panera. Several flavor options are available for their smoothies. Some of these include green smoothies! The Island Green is one of their most popular flavors and I can tell you, that if I hadn’t seen the green with my own eyes, I would have never known it was in there! Even my kids, who don’t touch anything green, drank every last sip. Mom win!
Tropical Smoothie Cafe also has a kids menu, so my kids decided they wanted the Chocolate Chill. I was able to smuggle a tiny sip before I heard complaints about sharing. It was really tasty. Creamy, chocolatey and sweet, it was a hit!
What is nice is that aside from their Smoothies, there are also real meals! Most of the menu items are offered bowl or wrap style. I ordered the Mango Green Thai Bowl. I was glad to see real fresh mangos on top of this hearty salad. It had bold flavors with the right balance of spicy and sweet. I would definitely order again!
I was surprised to see the Roasted Mexican Street Corn on the menu, so, of course, I had to give it a try! The corn comes with a chipotle aioli, quest fresco, and cilantro. I loved the saltiness of the cheese, the spiciness of the aioli and the natural sweetness of the corn!
The kids ordered the Rio Bowl and it was just the perfect size for a child’s portion with real white meat chicken. If I had been smarter about it, I would have had them eat before the smoothies came. Whoops!
All food is made fresh to order, so it’ll be a few minutes of waiting time. I didn’t mind though, because I had good (and at times loud) company and this beautiful sunset to enjoy while my meal was prepared.
Healthy options are available and delicious at the Tropical Smoothie Cafe!
