Honey Lavender Pork Chop at Mimi’s Cafe
Mimi’s Cafe has a new addition to it’s delicious French-Inspired menu – A Honey Lavender Pork Chop. The original recipe for Honey Lavender Pork Chop was chosen as part of a recipe contest that was submitted by Michael Watz of Evanston, Illinois. For the winning recipe, Watz and his wife have won a trip to France, where the Mimi’s parent company, Groupe Le Duff, is based.
The meaty center-cut pork chop is lightly glazed with honey, herbs de Provence and lavender and is paired with a mixed green salad with green apples, cranberries, goat cheese, toasted walnuts and roasted potato croutons tossed with balsamic dressing.
We recently dined for dinner at our local Mimi’s and were very pleased at some of the changes they have made. It’s been probably 5 years since I ate at a Mimi’s and I love how they redid their menu. It’s layed out a lot better. and it looks like they have added some signature items I hadn’t tried before.
Of course I had to start of my meal with a delicious bowl of corn chowder soup and a chilled class of their house Chardonney.
We also tried the Baked Brie Appetizer that is served with a French baguette crostini, Granny Smith apple slices and apricot chutney. It was a little on the sweet side but oh so delicious!
Speaking of sweet- Don’t forget to ask for a basket of their Carrot Bread. It’s seriously the best thing ever. And smother it with butter. Yes, because butter makes everything better.
If you have kids with you they will love the house-made mac and cheese. You can choose apple slices too if you do not want them to have french fries.
And lastly, don’t forget about the fire grilled Shrimp Brochettes. You get ten fire-grilled shrimps with a classic salt and pepper rub. It is paired with a baked cheesy gratin potatoes and house salad.
